RotaMaster helps London Ambulance Service easily control and manage their rotas

The challenge

London Ambulance Service (LAS) had been using a software solution that was unsuitable for their services and needed a more flexible approach to scheduling their 500 staff.

They were recommended to us by an internal manager who had used RotaMaster at a previous organisation. They wanted to understand how rota templates could be stored, amended, and rolled out to staff. The ability to easily view filled / unfilled shifts was key but vitally, how these shifts could be effectively filled, and reports created.

The solution

Following several detailed demonstrations of RotaMaster across various stakeholders, LAS signed up to a number of RotaMaster modules to help them actively advertise empty shifts to staff, prioritising business critical shifts and achieving maximum shift fill.

In January 2022, they decided upon the following services to support their workforce management:

  • RotaMaster Core (including our interactive staff hub)
  • SMS bundle to increase engagement
  • Finance+ to handle complex pay calculations
  • Data API to boost reporting capabilities

The RotaMaster implementation went so smoothly that in February 2023, LAS took the decision to add our HR module, People+ in February 2023. This means that they can now upload and store documents via the staff hub, manage training requirements, appraisals and enhance annual leave functionality.

The results

Since implementing RotaMaster, LAS have published 3,260 shifts, filling 2,225 – that’s automatically filling 68% of shifts with minimal effort and accommodating preferences of their staff.
